left my heart in new york city

Growing up in New Jersey, I always have been captivated by our neighbor. I have family that lives there, so visiting the Big Apple was a regular thing that we did. But only in the recent few years did I really get to explore this city. I'm still baffled that my cousins, who live in Manhattan, have never seen the extents of this city, and quite frankly, aren't really interested in doing so.

Many have said that New York is hopeful--it holds so many possibilities, dreams, and adventures--and I completely, utterly, hold that to my heart. Every time I step foot in the city--hell, even when I see it, my heart stirs a little, like I have fallen in love over and over again.

I have heard my friend ask: "doesn't New York scare you? The tall buildings are surrounding you and closing you in. There are so many people, and you always feel rushed. How is that admirable?" But E.B. White says that:
By comparison with other less hectic days, the city is uncomfortable and inconvenient; but New Yorkers temperamentally do not crave comfort and convenience — if they did they would live elsewhere.
The tall buildings, the hustle and bustle, and the rush of New York is exactly what gives me the adrenaline to believe that one day I will achieve my goals. It's also exciting to see all the different kinds people rush around New York. Everyone is in their own worlds, following their own dreams, living their own lives; yet, it seems like the mere fact that we're all in New York makes everyone seem connected. It's inspiring.

I go to a school with about 65,000 other students, and New York has over 8 million people. Yet, I feel like I can relate more to the people walking on the streets of the city than the my classmates.

New York City is just so captivating. My heart will always belong there, no matter where I've been.

New York, I'll be there one day. Count on it.
